 Local Author's Book Signing Event Commemorates 9/11
September 11, 2001 is a date that all Americans remember for the heartbreaking tragedy that took the lives of 3000 innocent people. Faith21.org, which is an inspirational and informational website providing spiritual content written by a group of local Christian writers, is hosting an event in order to commemorate those lost on 9/11.
Faith21.org contributor John Steinreich was deeply troubled when he found out that it was the religion of Islam that the hijackers and their backers declared as their inspiration for their violent behavior on 9/11. Like many Americans, John could not understand how religion of any kind could be used to support such wanton violence. For the next seven years, he spent countless hours reading, researching, and comparing the Bible with the Qur'an and Islamic literature in an attempt to understand whether the acts of violence committed on 9/11 were supported by Islam and how Islam compares in its philosophies and teachings with those of the Bible and the Judeo-Christian tradition. After engrossing himself in this study,
John sat down to draft a sermon on the subject that he hoped to teach in his church, the Turning Point Christian Ministry, but after writing about fifteen pages of the sermon he realized that he had much more to share on this subject than a sermon would permit. Not having written anything of great length since his college thesis twenty years earlier, John was daunted by the task ahead of him. But with a little faith and the encouragement of his family and friends, he decided to turn his sermon into a full-fledged non-fiction work. The result was the publication this year of John's first book titled The Words of God? - The Bible, the Qur'an, and How They Are Lived in the Post-9/11 World.
Faith21.org is sponsoring "A Night of Remembrance" to honor the victims of 9/11 and to allow Mr. Steinreich to describe his research and findings about the root causes of the attack. In addition to signing copies of his book, Mr. Steinreich will offer a multi-media presentation on the subject , as well as holding a commemoration ceremony. The event will also feature be a testimonial by Mr. Tori Dozier, who has a family member who survived the 9/11 Pentagon attack.
