Yes, today is the day. Today is the day that you put the super hero cape away with the Halloween decorations. Today is the day you quit your job. Actually the job you are now quitting is the one where you hold the world on your shoulders. It is time that you give up the illusion that without you, nothing would get done right.  It is time to Trust with a capital "T" that God will provide for you, that He is going to watch after you because you are His. The time is now to throw off everything that hinders you and refocus your attention on being "just" a servant, not the boss.    

"If you decide for God, living a life of God-worship, it follows that you don't fuss about what's on the table at mealtimes or whether the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds.
Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? All this time and money wasted on fashion - do you think it makes that much difference? Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them.

They are filled with wild, exotic flora that is both spectacularly beautiful to look at and experience as well as fraught with thousands of hiding places of unseen dangers and terrors. Like a real jungle, the relationships you have were designed by God to bring wonder and awe into your life. Also like a real jungle, the enemy, Satan can lurk and set traps meant to hurt, cripple, and destroy you.

Attitudes are the traps set in your relationships like trip-wire grenades. You don't set them. Satan does. Remember that!  They are emotional bombs that spring up in the least likely places and times in your life, and they are meant to damage you and the relationship you have, whether it be with spouse, children, family, friends, or even God Himself. The Lord extended His love toward us when He came here to die for us. Jesus commanded us to love one another as He loved us. artofbeingagoodguest.jpgBrother Man dreamed of flying the friendly skies home for the holidays. At last, that day was here!  Visions of Mom's tender, browned-to-perfection turkey prompted his unabashed, public salivating.  The year's economic downturn made Christmas travel as a family impossible.  Since his wife had the opportunity to work overtime, Brother Man was going it alone.  And he fully intended to revel in his solo getaway!  He loved his small group and commitments at church, but the whole package carried a fair amount of stress.  At his parents' house, there would be no work, no church, and no cleaning up after himself.  Just reclining at the table like Jesus, controlling the remote, eating never ending food, and shooting the breeze with whomever.  Though now 40 years old and a parent himself, Brother Man reasoned that allowing Mom to do his laundry and other chores was really an act of humility.  This was simply letting her know she was still needed.  He looked forward to catching up with old friends while in town.  His parents were marvelous hosts, so he invited several over for Christmas dinner. "Sure, bring your kids", said Brother Man to his old pal Home Dude.  "This is America, no child left behind."  "Yes", he thought, smiling to himself, "This is going to be the granddaddy of all Christmases!"
